Synopsis

Mickey7 wakes up at the bottom of the darkest pit on the freezing planet Niflheim, with a broken arm and a single clear thought: this will be his stupidest death yet. But dying is part of the job. As an "Expendable," his role in the human colony is to take on the suicide missions, knowing that a new clone with his memories will replace him. However, when he returns to base, he discovers that Mickey8 is already there, taking his place. Now, with two versions of himself existing at the same time, Mickey7 must hide… or be eliminated.

The cold is the first thing he feels. An ice that seeps into his bones, scraping his skin even through the thermal suit. Then comes the pain. A sharp sting in his left wrist that makes him groan. His biotech eye takes a moment to adjust to the night vision, but when it does, he sees it clearly: he's at the bottom of a hole. A goddamn black pit on the most miserable planet in the known universe.

Mickey7 blinks. He tries to move his left hand, but the pain is unbearable. Broken or fractured, it doesn’t matter. What really matters is that no one is coming for him.
