Seventh Part: The Last Promise

The darkness of the Kingdom of the Damned closed in around Emilia. The fire burned in the torches of black stone, illuminating her face as she stepped into the final stretch of her journey.

The empty throne of Hell awaited.

Wrath walked beside her, his expression severe, as if trying to etch every detail of this moment into his memory.

—You can still turn back —he said quietly.

But Emilia was no longer the same girl who had buried her sister.

—No —she answered firmly—. I won’t run.

The great hall doors swung open with a resounding echo. Inside, the other Princes of Hell awaited her. Pride, with his venomous smile. Envy, with his calculating gaze. Greed, with the glint of avarice in his eyes. They had all underestimated her.

But now, Emilia was not their victim.

She was their rival.

Pride rose from his throne and watched her with amusement.

—So here you are —he murmured—. The girl who should be dead.
