The Wild Robot Protects
The Wild Robot Protects The story of The Wild Robot Protects begins in the sky, with a flock of geese soaring through the northern winds in perfect V-formation. After months of wintering in the south, the young goose Brightbill leads the flock, his eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of danger. Beneath his wings, the vast ocean slowly gives way to familiar islands—the home he longs to see. Brightbill speeds ahead, driven not just by instinct but by an unshakable desire to reunite with his adoptive mother, Roz, the “wild robot.”
The flock descends, and Brightbill’s wings stretch wide as he makes an elegant landing on the island’s pond. Wasting no time, he heads straight for the clearing where he knows Roz will be waiting. The forest opens up, and as he arrives, he lets out a loud “Honk!” that echoes through the area. A murmur of life stirs from the earth as Roz emerges, her sensors picking up the familiar sound and her mechanical body activating. Among the ferns and old tree trunks, she stands, motionless at first, then opens her metallic arms, ready to embrace Brightbill.
“I missed you so much, Mom!” Brightbill exclaims as he perches on Roz’s shoulder, his safe haven since he was just a tiny gosling.
Roz, her robotic voice carrying an impossible tenderness, replies, “Welcome home, son.”
