The Hundred Years War on Palestine
The Hundred Years War on Palestine Gaza has become the epicenter of some of the most destructive confrontations in the recent history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Since 2008, a series of devastating wars has turned this small strip of land into a symbol of both resistance and human suffering. Israeli military offensives, justified as responses to rocket attacks by armed groups, have caused massive destruction and a disproportionate number of civilian casualties.
The offensives of 2008–2009 ("Operation Cast Lead"), 2012 ("Operation Pillar of Defense"), and 2014 ("Operation Protective Edge") took place under the suffocating blockade that Israel imposed on Gaza in 2007. This blockade severely restricts the entry of essential goods such as food, medicine, and construction materials, turning Gaza into an open-air prison where nearly two million residents face a perpetual humanitarian crisis.
Each war has left a trail of destruction in Gaza's basic infrastructure. Hospitals, schools, and homes have been destroyed, leaving the population without access to essential services. In 2014 alone, more than 2,200 Palestinians were killed, including over 500 children, and tens of thousands were displaced. The impact of these conflicts has been not only physical but also psychological, with a generation scarred by trauma.
