Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, 3)
Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, 3) "The only way," Tairn nodded towards them, "But know this: not all shall return."
The air seemed to freeze even further, and Violet felt her heart constrict. Xaden lowered his gaze to the shard of onyx in his hand, his expression hardening.
"Then we must ensure that it is worth it."
The path to the source of corruption was an abyss of shadows and secrets. As Violet and Xaden made their way through the narrow valley, surrounded by towering mountains, the air seemed to be filled with an oppressive energy, as if the very place was rejecting them. Tairn and Sgaeyl circled above, their roars reverberating against the rocks. It was a constant reminder that danger lurked from every corner, unseen yet relentless.
Violet gazed at Xaden, who walked by her side, his face a mask of concentration. Ever since they had left the fields of Basgiath, he had barely uttered a word. Yet, words were unnecessary; she could sense the internal battle he fought. The onyx stone, hidden in his belt, emitted a faint glow that seemed to beckon to something deeper within him.
"This feels wrong," Violet said, breaking the silence. Her voice was barely a whisper, yet in that setting, it sounded like thunder.
