The roque mallet struck the door with a dull crack.
—Wendy, open up!
Jack roared from the other side.

She looked at her son.

—Mommy… —Danny whispered.
Wendy knelt down and looked him in the eyes.
—Listen to me, Doc. If you get the chance… run. Do you understand?
Danny shook his head.
—Not without you.
