The Shining
The Shining Jack wavered at the top of the stairs. He looked at Danny, then at the boiler spewing steam and fire.
—Danny… —his voice was rough, as if, for just a second, he was himself again—. Run.
And then the floor gave way.
Jack fell.
The Overlook swallowed him whole.
Danny spun on his heels and ran.
Wendy and the Escape Wendy was in the lobby when the first flames consumed the red carpet.
—Danny! —she screamed, her throat raw with terror.
Then she saw him.
Running down the stairs, his small body covered in smoke and soot.
She lunged toward him, caught him in her arms, and bolted for the exit.
Hallorann waited at the door, bleeding, swaying on his feet, but alive.
—Come on! No time left!
The three of them plunged into the cold.
Snow wrapped around them.
And behind them, the Overlook burned.
The End of the Hotel The flames rose like a hellish crown over the roof.
The screams of the things trapped inside echoed into the night.
