The Wild Robot Protects Thorn and Nettle exchange a glance. Though not entirely convinced, the urgency of the situation forces them to agree. And so, a silent procession of creatures begins to move toward the deep, hidden parts of the island. The usual serenity of the forest is gone, replaced by a tension that grips every step, every rustle of dry leaves underfoot. The island, once a peaceful refuge, now feels like a place haunted by an invisible shadow.
Roz walks at the rear of the group, her sensors constantly scanning the horizon, where the strange shimmering tide grows ever more visible. Though she knows this plan is only temporary, Roz feels in her synthetic core that the poison tide is just the beginning of something far darker and more devastating.
Roz knew she couldn’t stand idly by as the poison tide advanced, devastating the ocean and threatening the island. With the haunting image of the injured sea lion and his anguished words, “the poison tide is coming,” etched into her memory, she resolved to find the source of the threat. Upon entering the water and analyzing the venom, Roz discovered it was not a natural phenomenon; it was chemical waste spreading from a hidden location beneath the ocean.
