He decided that the Great Flood would be the final punishment for their rebellion and for the corruption of Anunnaki blood by the Igigi. Enki, though bound by the council’s oath of silence, could not allow the total annihilation of his creations.

In secret, Enki revealed the truth to Ziusudra (later known as Noah), a wise and devoted human. He instructed him to build a massive ark, strong enough to withstand the waters that would cover the Earth. He told him to gather his family and pairs of animals inside, ensuring the continuity of life.

When the cataclysm struck, the Earth was ravaged by endless rains, violent storms, and an overwhelming surge of the oceans. Mountains were submerged, continents shifted, and most humans perished. The Anunnaki, watching from their ships in Earth’s orbit, were shocked by the magnitude of the destruction.

After days of chaos, the waters began to recede. Ziusudra’s ark came to rest atop a mountain. When he emerged and offered sacrifices to the gods, Enlil, upon discovering that some humans had survived, was furious. But Enki intervened, arguing that humanity had proven itself worthy of continuing.
