When the same man appears in her life four and a half years later, she is confronted with the truth of the future she saw. Theres a new complication, however: The man is the new boyfriend of her best friend, Aaron Gregory. Desperate to avoid the future she saw, Dannie reacts rashly: she disapproves of Aaron at first, discourages her best friend, Bella, from buying the apartment she saw in her premonition, and rushes to set a date for the wedding shes been putting off. for more than four years.
Most of the novels action occurs in the last six months of the five years to which the title refers, as Dannie grapples with the potential for a future she didnt plan for and seeks to avoid.
