The Foundation relies on its superior technology and its faith in Seldon's plan to resist Riose's attacks. However, Riose is not an ordinary enemy; he is smart, resourceful, and determined to achieve glory.

In the second part, "The Mule", the Foundation faces an even more dangerous foe: a mysterious mutant who calls himself the Mule. The Mule has the power to manipulate emotions and bend people to his will. He uses this ability to conquer planets and create his own empire. The Foundation is caught off guard by this unpredictable enemy, who seems to defy psychohistory's predictions. The Mule's ultimate goal is to find and destroy the Second Foundation, which is hidden somewhere in the galaxy and holds the key to Seldon's plan.
